House of AT4W Live!

Another Live Show! This time... IN CANADA!

And, of course, there was a Q&A afterwards!

There was also a Q&A after the 200th episode premiere, but I'll post that up in another day or two. ‎

Yeaaah, you can tell that, even after the audience realized it was the full version of the theme song, Lewis was one of the few who knew the full lyrics. Just found that kind of amusing.

Q&A was really good this time, lots of good questions (Elite Force 2! Yaaaay!)

So, yeah, I'm gonna probably go crazy waiting for the 201st episode. Current theory: NIMUE has been cut off from Linkara's home, Pollo's been deactivated, and the Ninja Style Dancer, Harvey, and 90's Kid are tied up in the closet. ^_^;

Quick background--I watched the BEGINNING of your live review before I watched the Q&A--I wanted to see what it was, and so I shall watch the full show after posting this.
My question:
This live show was BEFORE your 200th episode premiere--and yet, you played the 200th episode version of the theme song? (The one that REVEALS the 200th piece of kindling?)
Be honest. Were you saying in your head during the song, "Oh, please, no one look at the screen no one look at the screen PLEASE DON'T look at the screen!" :)
Gutsy move. And it seems it paid off for ya too! (I heard no screams of joy) :)

This was not the only failed toy tie-in comic DC published. Here are two more:

Power Lords (Three issues; December 1983 to February 1984)
Robotech Defenders (Two issues; January 1985 to April 1985. It was apparently so bad that it lasted only two issues!)

Jeremy.

So much cool video this week! I love the live shows and the Q&As. The timing with ConBravo and the 200th is perfect, it feels like an even bigger celebration.

But how did you ever keep a straight face when OMD came up in the Q&A?! “A rant for another day” - brilliant! And I got to see a couple of seconds after the 200th topic reveal, I'll settle for that :)

Ohhh, storyline hints... I've been looking forward to finding out more about the Gunslinger. Excited about the 201st, & future storyline twists... and the whole next 200!

Well, I played it because that's the visuals of people watching the 200th episode. ^_~ The reason Animinneapolis didn't have us singing the theme song is because I didn't play an episode.

Just in case you didn't get that "Now the people will know we were here" reference from the audience.

Oh. I knew that. (runs off to bury head in the sand as pennance for stupidity) ;)

(Just finished the live review)
I'm one of the few that actually enjoys the audience comments. I mean, this IS a live show, after all--that's half the fun! (The "zone" comment was SPOT ON--bravo to whoever did that. You win, indeed. :))

Man, those guys who dislike the audience talking are gonna HATE this one, because your audience was HILARIOUS!

That Spiral Zone comic was just bizarre...and all those random naked men...um, why? And note Overlord's statue...yeah...

Interesting stuff from the questions too...I say Insano's behind the screw-up of the hologram.

But where was Big McLargehuge?? :)

So excited for the new storyline. I actually feel kinda bad about complaining about the pacing of it during his Star Trek IV Review.

Even with the seat that I was so lucky to get I still couldn't really see the comic all that well.

I will tell you the lineup was total madness. I nearly didn't get it, and I was actually about half an hour away from getting James Rolfe's autograph when I ditched the line to get to the AT4W one. That's right, I ditched the Nerd for Linkara.

awww I loved Spiral Zone as a kid (and in fact was my first exposure to J Michael Strazynski's writing) so I'm gonna nitpick one thing, that's not face paint, one of the side effects of being in a zone is you develop large red rash like patches all over your skin (calling RazorBack and Duchess Dire "two face and lady two face" wasn't that far off actually)

also I just wanna say that the cartoon series had one of the most kick-ass 80's theme songs EVER

I'm with you on skipping AvX, Lewis, because everyone is acting like a moron. What's especially frustrating is that the writers (and by extension the characters) all seem to forget about Rachel Grey/Summers having control of the Phoenix for years during her tenure with Excalibur.

im still looking at the video but I have to say, that projector SUUUUUUUUCKS!

I can barely see anything from the comic

Did you record the 200th episode premiere? It would be interesting to see the reaction of the audience when they hear "Let's review One More Day."

The funny thing is that Tank's son doesn't sound any different after being brainwashed than he did before.

ShadowWing Tronix said...

To add to Jessica's post, the Zone Riders wear the armor to protect them from the effects of the Zone. They're like hazmat suits designed for combat.

ShadowWing Tronix said...

And now you see why I should have finished watching the review, as it actually says that in the comic.

I got your reference! A million points for me!

Though now I feel the urge to put on my poopy suit and wait on hold for tech support for some reason....

I think doing short sweet positive reviews of your favorite comics every now and then could actually make a pretty good/informative series.

Kinda how I use AT4W to steer clear of certain stories, it could be like the reverse.

I cant make out what was said at 13:03.

I 2nd anonymous's idea for short positive reviews of good stuff. Not intended to be humorous, but just to inform your readership of good stuff going on, or forgotten gems.

Oh ya, also: When the audience shouts out "Now the people will know we were here" is referencing the cheesy Canadian heritage moment commercials. That line comes from this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd86ov04mqI

Don't know if you got that, due to your American-ness. :D

Not quite. He uses contractions now. ^_^

DC also did a couple of 'M.A.S.K.' minis.

I'm with the people who don't like the audience talking; but OTOH, I wouldn't want to tell them to shut up, either. (The problem is, it works on the live show, not so much on video - could you edit some of it out?)
And some of the comments this time were really funny.

I used to call my parents 'mother' and 'father' for a while.

I love the 80s cheese! Too many comics these days are so worried about being 'taken seriously' and 'realistic' that they've forgotten how to be fun.

Oh, and this comic did a great job of predicting the future - since everything in comics these days is orange, showing us something orange and calling it white is a perfect critique of 2007 comics colouring.

Love this live panel. You should do another 80s show-based comic like G.I. Joe or Transformers at the next AT4W live show.

You know, with shows like Voltron Force, the Thundercats reboot on Cartoon Network, Transformers Prime, and yes even My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, it's a wonder why no one has actually thought of doing a new show based on Spiral Zone, considering this is basically a dark and intense animated show.

Anyway, can't wait for episode 201 soon.

What did the audience member say that made everyone laugh and Linkara say he wins? I can't quite make it out.

Airrider1 said...

I was expecting a Gurren-Lagann reference through all this, I'll be totally honest.

I think this is one of my favorite eps to rewatch, not just for the live shows but over all. The jokes are funny, it's not too long or too short (in my opinion) and this is a GREAT audience. They do call things out but not constantly and they're really funny with you.
